Dinomy Privacy Policy

Dinomy is a children’s story, song and learning app made for families. It is published by Yughan Raj V Sangar (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what Dinomy collects, why, and what we never do.

The short version

• Grown-ups hold the account. Children never create accounts, never type their email, and never see ads.
• We keep what we need to run your family’s library and nothing more.
• Your child’s voice is never stored. Mic games check an answer and discard the audio immediately.
• Photos you give us to make a character are used once and deleted. A photo you set as a child’s avatar is different: we keep it privately so it can show on their card. Choosing a new picture replaces it, and deleting your account deletes it along with everything else in your family.
• We do not sell data, show ads, or use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

What we collect

Account (grown-up). When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive a user id, your email address and, if you share it, a display name. This is how your family’s library follows you between devices.

Child profile. The first name (or nickname) you enter, an age band, optional interests, an optional learning level and an optional gender (girl / boy / prefer not to say). You can leave gender unset; it only changes the pronouns in stories.

Your family’s creations. The stories, songs, lessons, characters and drawings you make in the app, and the text you type to make them (for example “a story about sharing”). These are generated by AI providers on our behalf (OpenAI for text and pictures, and for the speech check in mic games; DeepInfra for voices, singing and short video clips). The text you type, the child’s first name and age band are sent to those providers to make the creation. They are not used to train their models under the terms we hold with them.

Play progress. Which lessons and stories your child opened, stars earned, and answers in games, so the Progress tab can show you what was practised.

Purchases. Subscription and credit purchases are made through Apple. We receive Apple’s signed confirmation (product, dates, environment) and store it to unlock your plan. We never see your payment details.

Usage and cost metering. How many creations were made each day and what they cost us to generate, so fair-use limits work.

What we do not collect

• No advertising identifiers, no ad networks, no third-party analytics.
• No location.
• No contacts.
• No audio recordings: mic games send the child’s answer to a speech check — the recording is sent once to our speech provider (OpenAI) to check the word said, and discarded immediately after. We never store it, never log it, and it is not used to train anyone’s models. On the device it is held in a temporary file only for the length of one attempt, then deleted.
• No child photos: a photo used for the “photo → character” path is sent once to the image provider to create the character and is not stored by us, except an avatar you set yourself, kept privately as described above.

Where it lives

Your data is stored in Supabase (Postgres and file storage) and processed on our API server hosted on Render. Access is restricted to your family’s accounts by row-level security.

The website waitlist

If you leave your email on dinomy.com to hear when Dinomy launches, we store that email, the optional age band you picked, and which page you were on, in our database. We use it for one launch email and nothing else, never share it, and delete it on request — write to [email protected]. No cookies are set by that form.

Feedback you send us

If you answer the in-app “How’s Dinomy going?” check-in, we store your answer, any reasons you tick and anything you type, together with your account, app version and iOS version, so we can read and act on it. Nothing you type is shown to a child or sent to an AI model. Email [email protected] to have it deleted.

Your choices

• Delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete. If you are the only grown-up in your family, this removes your family, children, creations and purchases records from our systems. If a second grown-up shares the family, the outcome depends on which of you deletes: when the owner deletes, the family, its children and its creations pass to the other grown-up and only the records that are yours alone are removed; when the second grown-up deletes, they leave and the family, its children and its creations stay with the owner. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple — cancel that in the App Store. Apple keeps its own purchase history.
• Remove a child from Settings; their profile and progress are deleted. When you join a partner’s family you choose what happens to a child already on your account: bring them along, which moves their profile and everything made for them into the shared family, or remove them, which deletes them as above.
• Manage your subscription in Settings or in the App Store.

Sharing a family

A family can have up to two grown-ups. They share the same children, the same library and the same plan, and each of them can see and manage everything in it. The second grown-up joins with an invite link or a short invite code from the first. If they already have a child on their own account, they choose on the join screen what happens to that child: bringing a child along moves that child’s profile, their progress and everything made for them into the shared family, where the other grown-up can see and manage them. A grown-up who leaves the family, or who is removed by the owner, no longer sees the family or its children, and what they made for the children stays with the family.

Children’s privacy

Dinomy is designed for children under 13 to use with a grown-up. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children directly. Everything about a child is entered by the grown-up who holds the account, or the grown-up who shares that family. A parental gate sits in front of purchases and links that leave the app.

Changes

When this policy changes we update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app.
